Should I buy the Canon Digital Rebel XTi, or the XSi?

I’ve been looking for a new camera for sometime, and I’ve narrowed it down to these two cameras. I just need some advice on what I should do.

I need your opinion about lenses for Canon Digital Rebel XTi (EOS 400D)?

Currently I have a simple digital point and shoot Sony camera; I am planning on upgrading to the Canon Rebel XTi. Since I have only ever owned point and shoot cameras I know nothing about lenses. I would like to buy a kit on Ebay that includes the camera body and a couple of lenses. There are cheaper kits that include Tamron lenses or Sigma lenses; and more expensive kits that include Canon lenses. My question is: If I want to save money and go with the Tamron or Sigma lenses, will I be sacrificing quality? Or should I spend the extra cash and get the Canon Lenses?

It all depends upon the specific lenses in question.

The kit lens for the Canon XTi, does not have image stability, and it’s a rather slow lens. The optics are good, but you have to work carefully with this lens. It is a good lens to learn with, but not one of Canon’s best lenses. If it is a Canon lens with IS, then I’d not hesitate to buy the camera with the Canon lens.

Both Sigma and Tamron make excellent lenses and you’d not be disappointed, again given the specific lens. If the Tamron and Sigma lenses offered with the camera have an aperture (f-stop) of 2.8 on the wide end.. I’d go with the Tamron or Sigma, if they are 3.5, like the standard Canon Kit lens… I’d go with the Canon lens.

Instead of buying on Ebay (most of those cameras are grey market, and do not offer USA warranties)… check the prices for the same items, or similar items at http://adorama.com or http://bhphotovideo.com … They are both reputable dealers, and you can get USA warrantied cameras rather than something iffy…

Unboxing of Canon EOS 40D and Tamron 17 50

I recently purchased a Canon EOS 40D with a Tamron SP AF 17-50mm f/2.8 XR LD Aspherical (IF) Di11 lens and decided to create a video of the unboxing ceremony.

The video has some small problems namely that it is too dark in parts and there are too many shadows. Any suggestions on how I can correct these issues next time will be welcome. I did turn the lights in the room all the way up. I think there may be some problem with the tape used as well.

Suggest me a starter lens to replace the lens on Canon Digital Rebel XTi?

Hi,
I would like to get the Canon Digital Rebel XTi. Would you please suggest me a starter lens (and website to buy it from) for replacing the kit lens. I heard that the kit lens is not the greatest.

Please suggest me only 18-55mm lens for now and also the websites where I could buy them.

I need a replacement for the 18-55mm lens. I am not a avid photographer and donot want to spend a lot of money. However, I have been reading that the kit lens isn’t good enough. Is there any good 18-55mm lens <$150?

Please don’t suggest me to buy $1000 worth of lenses.

Actually, the current kit lens – which is identified by a Roman Numeral II (two) – is a decent lens. The previous kit lens got the bad rap that it deserved, but the new one is a great improvement. See if that’s what you have before you ditch it.
